The Black Panther Coloring Book Awww, the 60's. If most baby boomers would have us believe, it was an amazing time of love and peace. But, oh yeah, look a little deeper and you see our government condoned shit like this, a propaganda piece that would make Stalin masturbate. This is the Black Panther coloring book, it was secretly released by the CIA and mailed throughout White America (which at that time was everywhere) to scare moderate whites (eg the ones who just talked shit about blacks behind thier back rather than to thier face) to make them think this was the real stance of the Black Panthers. It is supposed to be a coloring book for black children.
How To Trademark Your Band Name is a great article for bands and rappers on the pros and . . .well there are really only pros to trademarking your name. It's expensive but if you really want to plan for the future in music, it's a step you have to take.
Loose Change Oh, you knew this one would end up on here eventually. Now, when it comes to 9/11 conspiracies, I'm kinda of the "casual theorist," in the sense that I don't know what happened, I don't know what theories are true and which aren't, I just think that there are a lot of unanswered questions. This movie is a good start to some of those asking those "Why did (x) happen" but doesn't answer them. That is up to you.
Murder Dog Magazine is the grimeiest magazine out, and I mean that as both as compliment and an insult. On the good side, it features rappers that you made never have heard of otherwise, and the interviews are so full of slang, and when I say slang I mean the real shit, not the watered down slang you hear white newsanchors and CEOS throw around (Walgreens is open 24/7!) No, this shit was talking about Thizz and Hyphy before it became an energy drink. But the bad grimy is that most of the articles are (or seem to be) paid endorsements. If you buy a full page ad, there will be an article on you in there. Great exposure for the artist, but I think the magazine's tactics leave a bad taste in my mouth 24/7.
White and Nerdy This is the music video from Weird Al, and I linked to the one on MySpace because, well while your there, check out his MySpace so you can see what a dick he is to his fans. I used to like him, actually up until I read his FAQs, which were all insults towards fans and other people. Wow, I guess your parents comitting suicide can really piss some people off.
Stuff On My Cat Awwww, you hear that ladies and gentlemen? With a simple mouse click, you have officially visited the end of the Internet. A nothing site made by bored yuppies. The cats aren't even cute, I would have at least liked cute cats. Where's some poisoned Chinese cat food when you need it.
Super Columbine Massacre is Chrono Trigger-esque RPG featuring the Columbine Revolution as a back drop. (A sentence I never thought I'd write. I think my head just exploded.) It's boring at first as far as gameplay goes, but actually pretty informative. But come on, if I wanted an informative game I'd play "Captain Novolin." The game gets funner when, well, when the game *ends* and the fight really begins. I enjoyed it overall.
NSA Bibliographies Ah, now this is one of those juicy yet incomplete teases of info that would have Fox Mulder run to the North Pole. This is a list of articles written by the NSA (The National Security Administration) Most of it is boooring, until, buried among them is "Communication with Extraterrestrial Intelligence." Wait, huh? So, have we communicated with them? Was this just a training simulation? A false flag? The articles themselves have not been released, though.
"All Caps" by Mad Villian is probably one of my favorite music videos. The song is cool too, but the video is really what sells it to me. Check it out before the link goes dead due to copyright reasons.
Supernatural is the best show on TV. It's scary, funny, emotionally compelling . . .the casting is perfect, the characters are easy to relate to but are also enigmas. And I mean all the characters, not just the leads. The show follows the story of Sam and Dean Winchester, who travel around America hunting demons. If you haven't seen it yet, definetly check this diamond of a show out.
Smallville is Drusilla's favorite show, and it's in my top five. It's great the way they introduce aspects of the Superman mythos, while at the same time creating a whole new story. Lex Luthor is one of the best TV villians, becuase you actually care about him and it's hard to tell if he actually is a villian.
Pitchfork Presents 100 Awesome Music Videos This site is a collection of, yup, you guessed it, music videos. Mostly from the 80s and early 90s (the site runners are probably early baby boomers late Gen Xers) it's a great place to see some of the weird videos you've either forgotten or never seen before. Some of the videos are broken, since they link to YouTube and time and copyright laws hae shut a few down.
Monster Island is a serial novel about zombies taking over New York. The series is over now, you can read all the parts for free at the website, and I belive he has a sequel or two out. I haven't read it myself, I plan on getting around to it, but for all you zombie lovers, check this out and maybe tell me what you think.
Kill With Me is the official website of the movie Untraceable, which is terrible. I saw it, and it's basically a movie about Baby Boomers talking shit about the Internet. The killer is 20, the victims are in thier 40s and 50s, and the moral of the story, which they state several times, is that the Web should have censorship. But I did visit the site, and it is actually better than the film.
Girl with a Butterfly Knife is a cool video of a chick flipping a butterfly knife, hands down my favorite weapon. The Demon Knight uses them!
The Dropa Stones "The Dropa came down from the clouds in their aircraft. Our men, women, and children hid in the caves ten times before sunrise. When at last they understood the sign language of the Dropa, they realized that the newcomers had peaceful intentions...." Sounds like some bad sci fi? Well, this phrase was written on an orb that has been dated to around 10,000 BC. It tells the story, in hyroglphics, of an alien spaceship crash landing somewhere in China. This is an interesting, but short, article about the Dropa Stones. If you want to read more just do a Google search.
Time Upside Down is another site, similiar to the The Dropa Stones which catalogues items that couldn't have existed based on thier carbon date. So either the science of carbon dating is wrong, or what we regard as the human civilization may have not been the first one to walk on this Earth. How many great nations rose and fell before our recorded history? Has Earth not only been visited, but been colonized by aliens?
A Long Way From Columbine is an article from the Columbia Journalsim Review which details the media's coverage of the Columbine Uprising to the Weise Rebellion. Both were school shootings, but at Columbine, where the killers were white, the media focused on rock music and video games. But with Jeff Weise, who was Native American, and even with Virginia Tech's shooter Cho Seung-Hui, who was Korean, the media didn't talk about Marilyn Manson or Doom. WHy not? Weise was a fan of heavy metal but that doesn't fit in with the sterotype of the long haired loner white kid. The media has one job: maintain the status quo, even the lies, to keep thier readers, advertisers, and stock holders happy. There is no such thing as a fair press.
An Analysis of Netflix's DVD Allocation System Do you do Netflix? If so, you might not want to after reading this article. I cancelled mine since I read this. I rented about 6 movies a week from them, and I started to notice my new movies were taking longer and longer to get. Well, here is why.
Wrestlecrap bills itself as "The Very Worst of Pro Wrestling" but the site is hilarious. It documents all the terrible and tastless gimicks that have "graced" the square circle since the heydays of the WWF. Even if you're not a huge wrestling fan this is a good site to waste a few hours on. You'll at least have some great ice breakers like "Do you remember when Kane hooked up Shane McMahon's balls to jumper cables?"
Mr. X"Police Host Race Riot:Another blot on the police blotter: Springfield cops have been taking prisoners out of their cells and making them race each other. In another "shocker", Springfield's finest have been using the electric chair to cook chicken. That's finger-lickin' wrong!" This is one of the fake headline's on Homer Simpson's Mr. X website, which was featured on the Simpsons. He was running a tabloid website and instead of reporting, he was just making stuff up. But in Springfield, anything could happen!
Prussian Blue is the teen duo of blonde hair, blue eyed moppets who sing folk versions of heavy metal White Pride music. And while I guess as artists it is daring, they are terrible singers. Like, really bad. They've been on some national news programs which focuses on thier belifes, but it's the quality of thier music, not the content, that they should be ashamed of.
Wrestling Title Belts are the ultimate in fashionable attire. Shit, while settle for a belt buckle when you can rock a RAW Spinning Championship Commemorative Belt?
High Voltage Press . Want to learn how to build a laser rifle? Well this site won't tell you how, but it will let you order books on how to build a Tesla COil, which is the next best thing. "Light your home, farm, or ranch at a fraction of the usual cost. Disinfect water. Build a powerful radio transmitter." Dude, I want to shoot lighting bolts out of a hands, like Palpatine. Where's that book?
Whudafxup is done, finally. It's now called "The Truth," which is pretty ironic. See, these anti-smoking campaigns lie just as much as the tobacco companies, but they feel it is justified because they are fighting the "good fight." Want an example? " (An Internal Strategy Document) produced by the American Cancer Society urges activists to promote smoking bans by emphasizing "the immediate effects of secondhand smoke," including "cardiovascular problems such as damage to cell walls in the circulatory system, thickening of the blood and arteries, and arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) or heart disease, increasing the chance of heart attack or stroke." Now, it is impossible, and I mean IMPOSSIBLE for these diseases to happen immediatly. But it's scary sounding, and idiots belive it.
Mary Bell was a child killer, not just in the sense that she killed kids but that she was child herself. "Brian Howe had no mother, so he won't be missed," she said of her first victim, a three year old boy. This is a fascinating story of a sensational crime that has been all but forgotten.
Complete Text of Columbine Report, and I mean the complete report, there's thousands of pages here detailing every aspect of the Columbine Uprising. A must read for any one curious about what happened.
EcoDefense: A Field Guide To Monkeywrenching is a how-to manual for ecological resistence. From sabotaging construction equipment to spiking trees, this is an overview of tactics of harrassment. It's for entertainment purposes only, but it is very entertaining.
Hackers Post YouTube Video Declaring War on Scientology. Here is the first video from a group calling themselve Anonymous that has decided to go to war with the Church of Scientology and free the chruch members. So far they've hacked the main site with a denial of service attack (making it impossible to visit the site or making it take a long time to access) and they are doing something on Wikipedia they were pretty vague on. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out, the Church has had many adversaries in the past, and they've sued or harrassed them into silence.
MARTIAL LAW 9-11: Rise Of The Police State - Selling Torture You may know, I'm not a huge Alex Jones, I think he's a bit of an alarmist. But this video is terrifying in it's brutality. Watch as the cops break peoples' arms just during a peaceful protest. This video connects what's going on in Abu Gharbib with how police treat us here stateside.
Police Brutality - Go Skateboarding Day: Cop vs Skaters This video makes me sick. Some fat fucking cop attacking 13 year olds because they are skate boarding. His fat ass can't even catch up to them. He grabs a girl real quick though, probably because he's a pedophile and used to grabbing little blonde girls. This guy looks like he's from "To Catch A Predator." Just another overweight, limp dicked punk with a badge.
Are You Hot - Saturday TV Funhouse. I never saw the show that is being parodied here, but I get the picture. I laughed so hard the first time I saw this, cause each joke caught me off guard.
Marvin Bush & the WTC Power-Downs Just Prior to 9/11! This, I think, is one of the weirdest elements of the 9/11 story. Why shut down the buildings' power the weekend before the attacks? There's never been a valid answer to this question . . .
The Rude Awakening of Optimus Prime is another one of those "old cartoons with new voices" that pop up pretty regulary on YouTube. But this one is actually pretty funny, even though it does take a while to get started.
Battle to Retake Deep Space Nine Aw, memories. Who doesn't sit back and remember smoking tons of bomb weed and watching Star Trek: Deep Space Nine while thick white clouds swirl around your head. Well, I don't smoke anymore but this show still holds up. This is a video compilation of the Federation's attempt to retake DS9 from the Dominion. Some of the best space battles ever recorded to film took place on the farthest reaches of the Alpha Quadrant. Take that, Lucas!
UCLA Student Gets Tased by UCPD Officers The "Don't Tase me, bro!" video may be more famous, but this is the real thing. A student gets Tasered at UCLA for not showing his ID. He refuses, rightly so, the pigs react the only way they can to dissent: get violent. You can his tortured screams echo through the library, and it's not util half the students there begin confronting the cops it ends. This is disgusting and horrifying.
The Game: One Blood This song is infectious, the remix featuring over a dozen rappers is even better.
Dick Cheney in 1994: "Invading Baghdad Would Create Quagmire" The beauty of videotape. Here is Dick Cheney in 1994 being asked about whether or not the United States should interfer with Saddam Hussein's gutter country of Iraq. During the Clinton era, where Iraq was constantly trying to shoot down our planes, brutalizing his own people, and even tried to kill former President Bush, Cheney is against any military action. Just wait, if a Democrat takes office, all the Republicans will begin calling for an end to the war, and the Democrats will defend ANY action the president takes. Two party politics are a joke.
Rap Battles: Murda Mook vs Weeze This video is great for two reasons: One, Murda Mook is a master of battle rap. But two: It's funny to see Weeze give up maybe a minute into the first round and Murda Mook smashes him. Then the second round Weeze comes back but it's all prewritten!
Rap Battles: Murda Mook vs Serius Jones Round 1 Round One: Two champs go at it. I think Serius won, Mook seemed a little off in the beginning but comes back swinging.
Rap Battles: Murda Mook vs Serius Jones Round 2 "This is like Serius Jones vs. CUrious George" Serius brings the heat and goes after Mook and his crew. Then Mook comes back with his own rhymes and tries to take Serius out but there doesn't seem to be any knockout blows. Serius, I think, takes Round 2.
Rap Battles: Murda Mook vs Serius Jones Round 3 This is where it gets brutual. Despite losing the first two rounds, Mook destroys, and I mean completly destorys Serius in this round. Technically, Serius "won" the Battle, but Mook won the war.
Star Wars Gangsta Rap Version 2 " Bitches ain't nuthin but hos and tricks" - Lando Calrissian. This rap features an all-star cast talking about Death Star drive-bys and fucking Princess Leia. I think it's better than the first Star Wars rap, both comedically and production value-wise.
High School Musical - Ryan And Sharpay Duets" Sharpay is a slut. She's either in a short skirt or a long dress with the front cut out, tempting us to look up just a few inches to find heaven. But I don't get it. Is she in love with her brother or is he gay?
New Rules by Bill Maher is the shit. He's a hundred times funnier than Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert (I really don't like those two anyways). This is real comedy people, not that snarky saracastic bullshit. A lot of it is time-sensetive, but if you're a current events buff this is the real deal.
Michael Moore, can I say more? Love him or hate him, he has a presence. I love him, I've seen all of his films and TV series, and I learn something new with each of his projects. He is one of my biggest influences. I wish his website had a more personal touch, but he does have links and guides to taking action, so that is a plus.
"14 Points of Fascism" is a point by point comparison of the trends and actions of fascist nations to our own. It's a little heavy handed, but a good resource guide if you already believe this country is headed down the wrong track. It is based on the article "Fascism Anyone?"
CIA for Kids Hey kids! Did you know CIA agents wear Bullwinkle horns as a disguise? That's one of the many things you'll learn on this site. Do puzzles! Break codes! Torture detainees with rubber hoses! Live the experience!
Lyndon LaRouche is one fucked up dude. He is a "Democrat" who runs for President every four years (just to get the matching federal funds that all canidates get) and then he uses the money to finance his cult, known as the LaRouche Youth Movement. These freaks, in turn, drop out of college (because LaRouche thinks it's a brainwashing facility), move in with other members in a "commune-like" house, and make their living off of selling LaRouche propoganda. I've had several run-ins with these guys in the past, and I'm sure I'll get to posting them later, but for now, check out this link. It's the craziest cult you've never heard of.
Guerrilla News Network leaves me torn. On one hand, I love the underground news, and the hip hop element. But on the other hand, they swing on Eminem's nuts so hard I'm surprised he's not a eunuch. "Mosh" was weak, but GNN, which produced the video, swears it's a cultural phenomenon. Or maybe that's an exaggeration on my part.
"The original version of our video for Eminem’s Mosh was a cultural phenomenon beyond our wildest dreams," reports GNN. ('Toot, toot,' goes your own horn.)
"Internet message boards talked of grandmothers crying while watching it." (Uh, ok. Doubtful, but maybe.)
"There were (unconfirmed) reports of runs on black hoodies at Foot Lockers across the country." (This is what I think is ridiculous. "Mosh" is not an underground movement. It is a corporate funded "riot" video. And the fans realize this. Any one who saw this video and bought a black hoodie is a poser.)
Most of us didn't need a video from Eminem to go, "Gee, America is in a bad place now." Shit, we've been wearing the hoodies for decades. So for GNN to make a correlation between their video and a social movement is bullshit. They're buying into their own hype.
Alternative Considerations of Jonestown Peoples Temple is a site dedicated to the Jonestown Massacre. It compiles witness accounts, investigative reports, and other sources to put some closure into a tragedy decades old. If you've never heard of the Massacre, I'm not surprised. It seems almost quaint today after the fiery deaths at Waco or the sci-fi weirdness in Heaven's Gate. But the human toll at Jonestown is still a chilling reminder of loyal dedication and abuse of power.
Democracy Matters is a relatively new political organization that is aimed at removing corporate money from politics. I am a member, check out the site and see if you want to join as well. Business money has corrupted the process; it has since the birth of the country.
Join Arnold No, this is not sarcastic. I voted for him, and briefly worked for his campaign (putting up signs and such). I really hope that he can help Cali recover economically, after the mess Davis created.
GTA is a nice little Flash piece about how the Bush team micromanaged the Florida election to ensure a win.
GOPunk is a site that tries to show that Republicans and punk music goes hand in hand, because we all know Republicans love the counter-culture movement. Keep an eye out for RedSkin on the Forums
International A.N.S.W.E.R. is a socialist anti-war organization. It's a good clearing house of alternative news, but everything has to read knowing it's going thorough a leftist filter.
Ann Coulter is the T and A of the Republican party. She fails where I succeed: Mixing politics and pop culture.
Paris is a rapper who holds nothing back. The reason why his site is listed here instead of music is because this is the most political rap site I've ever seen. Read his articles, then buy his albums.
Executive Intelligence Review is the official site of Lyndon LaRouche, whose political party is a mix of conspiracy theories and cultish recruiting tactics with politics-as-usual "we can fix it" bullshit.
Ralph Nader, my vote in 2000, sent a clear message to the Democrats: If you walk and talk like a Republican, but call yourself a Democrat, you will lose millions of votes. I also was hoping to get the Green Party 3% so they could get matching federal campaign funds, but not enough people wanted to "throw away their votes." Pussies. The Supreme Court threw them away anyways.
The Black Panther Party Back in the day, car loads of armed Black Panthers followed cops around, making sure they didn't beat the shit out of people. They marched on the California State Capitol, weapons in hand, to protest the racism of the States tactics in dealing with inner-city problems. We need these groups, and these actions, today! ALSO: There is a difference between the Black Panther Party and The NEW Black Panther Party.
International Citizens' Inquiry Into 9/11 What happened on 9/11? Honestly, I don't know. Was it an inside job or an act of war? I. Don't. Know. But we do need to find out, one way or the other. Sites like this help people ask the right questions. Check it out.
Rense is a conspiracy website that makes Infowars look like the New York Times. Anti-Semitic and full of half-baked UFO theories, it's a rambling site with a poor layout. But hey, that might be what you are looking for.
Rense's cartoon is just a bizarre cartoon, and I can't make heads or tails of it. Take a look.
Spychips is a website to check out if you want to look over your shoulder while you grocery shop. It documents how RFID chips are being placed into goods we buy to track our shopping and travel habits.
Infowars is THE source for propaganda and disinformation. If you think something's fishy in the news or in politics, they've probably already covered. A huge archive of articles and uses real sources to back up its arguments; this site is quite unsettling.
Disinfo is a great site for conspiracy theory buffs. They've put out a few great books, and deserves more attention than a mainstream conspiracy site like The Smoking Gun.
Hope is Emo is a mock video blog/podcast whatever it's called, starring the lovely Crista Flanagan from MadTV. It's basically a depressed girl ranting about her stupid yuppie parents. It's hit and miss but worth a try.
IndyMedia is another site like InfoWars, as a collection of information that doesn't get play in the mainstream, but it more focused on political realities than conspiracies. The FBI is trying to shut the website down, so enjoy it while it lasts.
InfoWars is a collection of articles about unusual events and government conspireacies. Most of the articles are from legitmate newspapers, and a lot of them are stories that I haven't heard through the mainstream media. But the site's author, Alex Jones, takes the most innocous events and turns them into a Illuminati-sized conspiracy. (ASIMO is part of the police state!)
The Onion. I'm surprised it took me so long to add this; one of my favorite newspapers. A true parody, not just of current events but of journalism itself.
Ghostly Talk. I've been investigating the paranormal for about ten years now. If I had half the Internet resources then, I probably would have gotten into far less trouble. (Long story.) Great site for the casual Ghost Hunter or just curiousity seekers.
Prison Planet Lately, because of this website, I've spent way too much time on the web. And doing that can make you more than a little paranoid. Welcome to Prison Planet, another creepy website that documents the take-over of America using mainstream media sources. A great read, just don't visit it when you're too high or too tired.
Andy Kaufman Returns: The Official Site and the news story. What the fuck! Where did this come from? I didn't even hear about this in the mainstream news. Is it real? Andy Kaufman faked his death around 20 years ago . . .oh it's a complicated story, rent "The Man On The Moon"I'm a little frazzled about it all right now, and hopefully more news will come out soon.
This story was a fraud! Here's the truth.
The Current is the college newspaper of American River College in Sacramento, CA. I used to run that paper, back when I was a journalist major. It was good back then, now it's just awful, and not just because they blasted "Sex Crimes." Oh well, you can't live in the past.
Punk Planet is a music/politics magazine that tried to bring a sense of awareness of world issues to the teen subcultures. It's a great idea; I see "Sex Crimes" as aiming for the same thing. A great mag if you want to keep up on the underground music scene, though I was hoping for more content in their website.
Paranoia Magazine is another one of my Barnes and Noble obsessions. Every four months, I'll grab a copy, buy a coffee and read this mag from cover to cover. Sometimes they'll have a great analysis of an event. One article was about the Columbine cover up, how there were really three shooters, and one of them got away. It turns out this third suspect was a police officer's son. You might not believe it, but the author backed up his theory with sound arguments. Other times, the mag is David Icke-ish space invasion scenarios, which make me go a big rubbery one. And if you don't know who David Icke is, then you also make me go a big rubbery one.
Fortean Times is the best magazine on conspiracy theories and the paranormal in print. "Regime Change" was inspired by years of reading the Times.
Cable News Network is the old man on the lawn of news networks. It's only worth watching just to see them play catch-up with FNC. Their website, though, is amazing with tons of international news, including the Basque uprising in Spain.
British Broadcasting Corporation is a good site to see how we look to the rest of the world. They're pretty conservative, no matter how the Bush Administration is trying to paint them liberal over the Tony Blair scandal. Another interesting link is their series of articles on the Columbine shootings.
Fox News Channel is what I watch all day long, it is the back-beat to my life. It angers me so much, and I've lost count of all the FNC references on "Sex Crimes."
Access Sacramento is a perfect place for beginning video-philes. I got my start here, working on a few failed television projects. But with new technology, editing and production are a snap. Stop by and sign up.
The O'Reilly Factor is one of my favorite shows. Love him or hate him, it's entertaining.
The Disney Channel is what I'm watching during Fox News commercial breaks. There are quite a few references from Disney shows throughout the album.
Southern Poverty Law Center: Intelligence Report is a quarterly magazine that investigates hate crimes and racist groups. I'm surprised that it doesn't get more press, but then again, hate crimes aren't sexy enough for Fox News.
Paris: Guerilla Funk is one of Paris's early videos. Not the heiress Paris, the rapper Paris, so don't check this out hoping to see titties. But it is a good of example of revolutionary rap.
Thug Life Army is a site that is all 2pac, all the time. It's a testament to his legacy that seven plus years after his death he has such a dedicated fan base. I really think he is the John Lennon of this generation. This is a direct link to an article about me, but check out the rest of the site.
Siccness Network is an on-line community for Nor Cal rappers. It's ran by Brotha Lynch Hung's crew, I belive, or someone from that camp. A good place to network.
SacTown Radio is the only online rap station that is dedicated to street hip hop in NorCal. They'll spin some Dead Rabbit from time to time, so check it out.
YugiRap Ugh. I really don't know what to make of this. I mean, I admire his drive and all but . . .
Crazy BallHead is a Sac town rapper, who is positioning himself to pass Mr. P Chill as the king of Rap in Sacramento. Check out some of his songs on-line, then check out Chill's and see who you like better. Nice site design too.
Real Hip Hop is an online battle where you decide who wins. You watch a video clip of battling rappers, and then vote one through to the next round. 8 rappers a month compete to see who's the best. Watch in the coming months for me to make an appearance, but if you're into battling this is the place to go.
(916) Magazine is the ONLY source for hip hop news in Sac, and even most of North Cali. This free mag profiles local artists who are putting their footprints all over the scene. Good articles about people you might not hear about otherwise and a huge promoted of local talent. They just started up (510) Magazine for the Bay and (209) Magazine for Stockton, and when those sites go on-line, you can bet they'll be at the top of my links list.
Twelves Wax Emporium is the place for hip hop heads in Sacramento. Anything from rare wax to new CDs, you can find it here. They're currently building their on-line presence, and it looks like they might do web orders, which would fucking rock, since not everyone can drive out to Nor Cal just to peruse through their stacks. A great place for rap addicts as well as someone just starting their career as a DJ. Helpful staff, too.
DMX, one of the post-Pac rappers who seems to have it all. Talent in both music and movies, on-stage charisma and a legion of dedicated fans. He's one of the acts that defy album sales: like Marilyn Manson, his sales have declined but his status among the musical elite has never been tarnished. Unlike dudes like Baby Bash or Sean Paul, whose entire worth is based on units moved, DMX is untouchable. "Heat" is my favorite song, and I tried to write one like it for "Sex Crimes" but don't have half the talent he has.
Online Hip Hop Archive has the lyrics for almost every rap song out there. No Dead Rabbit, but a great place to end any arguments about certain lyrics.
2Pac is a lyrical genius. Although he was limited by his subject matter (guns, ghetto life, and relationships) he was quickly on his way to becoming an elder statesman in the game. I still remember the first time I ever heard "Trapped" from 2Pacalypse Now. Powerful shit. Never forget where you come from.
Ice Cube is one of the best rappers out today. I believe "Natural Born Killas" with Dr. Dre is the best rap song, and his album "The Predator" is one of the best albums ever produced. I feel that most of my work is influenced by both him and 'Pac. Hey Cube, when's the new Connection album dropping?
Evil Dooinz is the website of Brotha Lynch Hung, Sac's first break-out rapper. His site just had a facelift, and unfortunately they removed the "Kill a ho" game. E-mail them to bring it back.
Ice-T is a classic. From "Six in the Morning" to his heavy metal band Body Count, to being the first cat in the game to break into acting, Ice-T represents the ability to bring hip-hop to the masses.
Hillary Duff Oh how I love Hillary Duff. Her music is terrible except for a few rare songs ("Beat Of My Heart", "Wake Up", and a few others). But she's hot so she doesn't need to be talented.
Digital Musicworks International is a Sacramento-based online record company. They're basically in competition with CDBaby except A) they'll get you on ITunes hella quick and B) they don't charge anything up front.
CD Baby is an online service that allow musicians to put they're CDs up for sale. It's a great way for local musicians to sell all over the world. I've sold CDs in England and Japan, and those are fans that I may never have reached from this site. Also, it's hilarious to listen to some of the really bad recordings like Harry Veygel and Schloss.
The Advantage is a band that does covers of Nintendo songs. Sounds cool? Yeah, I though so, but then I saw thier play list: Mega Man 2, Dr. Wiley's theme, Metroid, Kraid's Hideout theme, etc. Like, they pick the most obscure songs so I don't know if they really do sound like the original or if they're just making it all up.
G and S Music is a site for fans of Frank Zappa and related artists. You know, it's not really my type of music but you have to respect an artist who has influenced so many others.
Marilyn Manson If there was no Manson, there would have never been an Eminem or a Dead Rabbit. His contribution to modern shock rock cannot be understated. He's also smart enough to hold his own against his critics, and to survive all the witch hunts and lawsuits that surround him.
The Screws are an East Coast punk band with a strong set of high energy songs, none of that emo-punk crap you see so much of nowadays. You can buy their demo off their website for only $5, and you can also listen to their songs on-line as well.
The Indie Bible This is THE source for independent musicians. Everything you need: venues, magazines, radio
stations, etc. It's affordable, and worth the money.
The Indie Link Exchange From the creators of The Indie Bible, this is a great way to drive traffic to your music related web sites.
The Bouncing Souls was the first band I ever saw live, and I've been hooked ever since. I'm not a huge punk fan, but The Bouncing Souls is one of the few that I listen to regularly. Also, they have the best logo of any band ever, and until I lost my Bouncing Souls beanie, I wore it for almost two years straight.
Simply Lost is an indie punk band from So Cal (I think. If Simply Lost fans want to yell at me, I'm sorry, it's 5:00 am!)They're actually really good, they have two albums that you can buy off their site, and you can check out some of their songs at Pure Volume.
Third Eye Blind Man, I love this band. Yeah, talk shit. Fuck you, they're the best. "Semi-Charmed Life" was the soundtrack for one of the best summers of my life. "Narcolepsy" wasn't a radio single but the best song on the album. From "Losing a Whole Year" to "God of Wine," their debut album is one of my top ten favorites. "Blue" was an amazing album too. (I'm gushing, I know) Every one of their albums seems to be written about me, and what's going on in my life at that time. That's the hallmark of a great work: it's accessible to everybody on an intimate level. I like some of their newer songs like "Blinded," "Crystal Baller," and "Hit and Run," but haven't had time to really get into their newest album. They are the only band I regret not seeing live when I have the chance. (Which is like once a year, but I'm just always too busy.)
OMC How bizarre, how bizarre. OMC is more than just a one-hit wonder to me. I played this CD out, bought a new one, and played that one out. Their mix of hip-hop and New Zealand harmonies are catchy, even if they are a little hard to understand. The CD is great (I'm listening to it right now), but out of production, and I can't find any other info on them. Also, this CD has the dubious honor of having one of the most annoying songs ("She's Loves Italian")
Voice of the Beehive Oh I really can't say enough about this band. I love them, they're CD "Sex and Misery" guided me through some real weird times in my life. Voted the "worst CD ever" by my best friend Josh, I still hold them and their work in high regard. It's alternative pop rock, so it's not every one's cup. They stopped recording for a long time, but it appears they're on a reunion tour. Anyone interested in getting into the music biz really should read their biography on the site. It's a roadmap of every thing that can go right and get fucked up in the course of a career.
Kayla's "Promote Unsigned Bands" is a good site for anyone starting a band's web presence. Right now it's a simple "To DO" list with some links to a few very important sites. I'd recommend this site not only to bands but anyone wanting to have an on-line presence. If it's maintained well, and if enough people give her input, links, and support, this could become the "go to" site for unsigned bands.
Goldfinger is another band that I have on my short list of "I need to see these fuckers live!" I've been to their shows almost every time they come to Sac, they never fail to impress me. I sport my autographed Goldfinger hat with pride, and I hope that my live show can bring at least half the energy that they do. They also do a great job of mixing their music with their message, without becoming too preachy.
Letters To Cleo was one of my favorite bands growing up. Many of my really grandiose screenplays were written to "Demon Rock." Of course, like everything band I like, they broke up, but you can still buy their CDs and Merch. With their near-nonsense lyrics and addictive beats, it still makes for good listening if you want something to stir your creative juices. The lead singer went on to perform on in Josie and the Pussycats and now performs as Kay Hanley
The Eyeliners is one of my favorite punks bands. They're energetic, you can actually hear what they are saying, and thier music is incredibly upbeat. Did I kiss too much ass? Check out thier site and see when they'll be in your town.
Unsigned Music is a great website for new artists, or people looking for something out of the mainstream to pick up and become a fan of.
Music Business Chops is a seminar/meet-and-greet for musicians. This one I believe is just on the West Coast, but if you google music seminars in your area, you'll find similar events. Just be wary of events that charge too much (over $20 bucks) or charges for "critiques" of your work. These are both signs of rip-offs.
Monster Lab is where "Sex Crimes" was mastered by my good friend Tim Pratt. He actually opening his own studio, so if you have any audio work you need done, he's the man to call.
The Depot Studios is where "Sex Crimes" was recorded.
Star Polish is where I pretty much learned the business side of music. Recommended to ALL musicians.
Deuce Bigalow European Gigolo is my favorite movie (OK, more like in the top ten). Sure, it got trashed by the critics but what do they know. It's better than the first. I've lost count of how many times I've seen it, and I highly recommend it. I want to do an underground soundtrack for it, but the rest of Dead Rabbit's staff is against it. We'll see if it ever gets off the ground. And please, please download the Gigolo of the Month screensaver.
Superman Returns is awesome. I hate Superman as a character, and even I liked this film. This is another comic movie masterpiece, and Kevin Spacey is a great Luthor. Bryan Singer does it again.
America: Freedom To Fascism is a new documentary about how America has made a recent and rapid descent from a democracy to a fascist state. I'd argue that this slide started in the 1950s, or possible even in the middle of World War 2. The preview looks good, but I think it will either be too preachy or too biased.
Ghost Rider looks good, but his head looks crappy. Can I ignore that fact and spend two hours watching a demon on a motorcycle fight demons not on a motorcycle? Totally. I've always liked Ghost Rider because of the dark and supernatural elements of the comic. Hopefully this movie will be better than "Constantine."
Monk is one of my favorite TV shows, one of the few that I record. It's funny, it's clever, and the girls are cute. What a combo. Plus, I think I have OCD, so I can relate.
The Transformers Movie is a new, live action film from Spielberg and Bay. I actually hated Spielberg until "War of the Worlds" but I've always enjoyed Bay's films. Anyways, what I like about the teaser trailer is they make it look like a real sci-fi movie, rather than just a cartoony type of film. We'll see how they pull it off in a year.
War of the Worlds did the impossible; it actually made me afraid of something more than zombies. Even though this film has the WORSE ending in film history (not an understatement), it is a great action film. Drusilla and I watched this the other day, she has terrible taste in films (she counts "Bio-dome" and "Dude, Where's My Car?" as her favorites) and even she liked it. There will be lots of WotW references on the new CD, so check it out.
Spiderman 3 is coming! Well, in a year, but it's never too early to start wetting your pants. This "teaser" shows more than I thought it would, so check it out before someone ruins the surprises. Or better yet, avoid everything until the film comes out and go in expecting nothing.
Ultraviolet is a pretty good movie. Well, the plot is terrible, but what I liked about it was the action scenes. The whole movie I was sitting there saying "Whoa, I've never seen that before." I went into this movie without watching any commercials or previews, which I like to do so I have no idea what it is about. This is the best non-Dead Rabbit created image of what I think Drusilla is like.
Trooper PX bills itself as "The Worlds Most Complete Starship Troopers Reference Collection," and maybe it is, but it seems to be a little light on info and too many photos. But, I guess if your a Starship Troopers fan (like me) you gotta take what you can get.
Serenity is the new Firefly movie. I never saw the show, though I think it's on DVD now I might watch it. The trailer looks interesting, and I'm a Joss Whedon fan, so I'll probably check this out.
MPire is an M & M based parody of Episode 3. It's funny, I like the Grevious M & M. This link seems kind of dated now but oh well.
Sin City is the most violent movie I have seen in a movie theatre. Sure, most of the violence is animated, but when was the last time you saw a man get his arms and legs hacked off, but kept alive. Then, he is fed to his own pet dog! Insane visuals, with a good story and acceptable dialogue, this is a movie worth checking out in the theatres. Also, lots of strippers in thongs; GhettoBootyCats unite! And check out the games; they're hella hard!
Ring Two Ugh, what a crappy, crappy movie. The first ring scared me, it was almost traumatizing. I had nightmares about Samara for months, even years afterwards. This movie was terrible. Not only was it boring, the worst sin for a horror movie, but it made Samara less scary. The first movie's orginal hook was the haunted videotape. That was ditched in the first ten minutes of this film, turning it into a standard ghost story. The first movie was scary because there were no clear explanations; the auidence was in the dark most of the movie of what the whole story was. This movie overexplains everything. Why is Samara evil? She was a demon-god from another dimension. Why did her mom throw her in the well? In Samara's home dimension, water is her weakness. Oh, and it turns out the reason Samara kills is that she's "always wanted a mother." What?
Baby Bash Yes, I know this is a broken link. I am putting this up a message, like a decapitated head on a pole. About a year ago, this guy was all over the radio. Now, who is he? His website is down (which is a sign the studio has dropped him, since they maintain the site.) You may sell a lot of records, but if you don't sell ENOUGH records, a label will drop you. Loyal fan base? Great music? They really don't care.
The X-Files is a televison classic. From werewolves to government conspriacies, this show had it all. And thier spin-off, The Lone Gunmen, predicted 9-11 (and then was cancelled.) They are planning a new movie, which would be nice because the finale was pretty disappointing. And really, nothing has been able to replace The X-Files in either mood or scope. Check out re-runs on Sci-Fi or catch 4 hours on Tuesday and Wednesday nights on TNT.
Gunner Palace is a documentary from the soilder's point of view in Iraq. I haven't seen it yet, but it's getting good reviews and this preview looks cool.
Batman Begins Ugh. I love Christian Bale (hence the Bale reference on "Polly Klass") but I have really low expectations for this movie. Too many characters, too many big name stars; these are the same problems with all the other Batman films.
In Search Of . . . is a cancelled series from a few years ago. They still run the occasional marathon of repeats on the Sci-Fi channel. Worth checking out when it's on. They cover a pretty broad range of supernatural activity.
Beyond Belief is the "Fact or Fiction" show, where you get to choose whether or not the segments are real or not. They're all supernatural-based stories, so you have to decide whether or not a ghost really did save a woman from a rapist (they say "fact") or that a guy travelled back in time to the Old West ("fiction"). This show is also shown on Sci-Fi channel as a marathon. The funniest point was a story about a man who was cursed by a gypsy, he was turned into a doll, and they claimed that story was true!
Tripping the Rift is the last in our "Sci-Fi" trifecta this week. At first, I thought this show looked horrbile. It quickly became one of my favorite shows on Sci-Fi, and now it's gone. I think. Maybe thier bringing it back, hopefully. It's about a team of space-faring aliens who steal and have sex with everything. Imagine an R-rated Futurama.
The Godsend Institute Terrible movie, awesome website. This website pretends to be for a cloning institute, the one featured in the movie "Godsend." The fake company has received numerous pleas from parents about their techniques, which is either funny or sad, depending on how human you are. I think it's funny. I also heard GNN reported that several of the clones were sporting black hoodies.
Blade Trinity fucking sucked! I waited years for this film. It was the worst of the Blade series, which until combined all the super hero pathos with a dark alternate reality of our world. This movie, let me rephrase that . . . this series of scenes that was recorded on to film was so laughable, so poorly executed that I almost walked out. Yes, Jessica was hot. Yes, Ryan was funny. Yes, Wesley was his usual bad ass self. But . . . David Goyer can write, and he can direct, but sometimes you shouldn't do both on the same movie. Checks and balances, man. Checks and balances.
White Noise, a new "Ring-ish" type thriller looks creepy. Electronic Voice Phenomena may or may not be real, but this trailer has some chilling moments. The movie will probably suck, but who knows. Check it out.
Resident Evil: Apocalypse. I don't have high hopes for this movie. As much as I love zombie flicks, this just doesn't do much for me. Also, the website for the film is so weak, that gives me a bad vibe too.
Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation Man, I waited so long for this movie, and it sucked. It sucked so fucking hard! I liked the cartoon "Roughneck Chronicles" and figured if this was half as good I'd be happy. Not even close! You know, I can write a couple of paragraphs about how crummy this movie was, but forget it. It's not even worth that.
UPDATE: I watched this movie again and I was wrong. This movie is really good, and honestly I must have missed several key points the first time I watched it!
Mad TV Speaking of SNL, Mad TV has always been funnier. SNL seems to rest on its laurels, but Mad TV has always had to prove itself, and this site is no exception. They have clips of old shows, and a preview of upcoming ones. Check out the Spishak commercials.
The Onion is the premier source of parody. Fuck Saturday Night Live, this site is the shit. If you're lucky enough to have it distributed free in your town, pick one up. They also have a collection of books that collect their best stuff from past years.
Man On Fire Awhile back on "Links" I complained that I hadn't had time to see this movie yet. Well, I did finally check it out, and it's really good. Kinda of a weak ending, but because I'm such a big Denzel fan, I think I was expecting more.
I, Robot is the new Will Smith movie. It looks both cool and terrible. It's based on an old Isaac Asimov story about a robot on trial for murder. In this version, I'm guessing, robots attack humans en masse. Why even call it "I, Robot?" Alex Proyas (Spelling) of "Dark City" directs, so at least it'll be visually cool.
Happy Tree Friends is "Itchy and Scratchy" on LSD. Yes, I hate it when people say "This is *blank* on *insert drug* but there's no other way to describe this gruesome series. I really can't explain it anymore. My favorite friends are Flaky and Shifty and Lifty.
The Punisher. I told myself, after I missed "Daredevil", that I wouldn't miss another Marvel movie at the theatre. And although all I can ever think of is the terrible Dolph Lundgren "Punisher," this one doesn't look too bad. At least they didn't cast Vin Diesel.
Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle No this is not a joke. Yes I really like this movie. Drew Barrymore AND Shia LaBeouf in the same movie? AND (to a lesser extent) Crispin Glover? The girls were hot, the action was tight; it was just a fun movie. I want to be in Charlie's Angels 3 as like a celeb cameo. Like Pink, but with a smaller dick.
Official Dawn of the Dead Site Oh yeah, this movie is going to be the shit, and this website is sweet. Not only is there a zombie biology scanner-thingy, but TWO zombie games!! You know, I kind of hope this movie is really, really bad so it won't scare me so much. Make sure when you visit this site that the sound is turned up. And also, join the ZOMBIE ARMY!
One of the saddest things I come across is a dead person's site. This young girl, Chanel, was really into Star Wars and she made costumes for conventions. But she died somehow (I've never found out why) and that's left of her is this website, which is slowly falling apart. Links aren't maintained, pictures can't be found.
It's just weird becuase she has this blog and it just goes up to Oct. 17 and then stops. She died shortly after that. I don't know why that disturbs me, but it does. I think it disturbs me more, and this is going to sound really stupid, but here she is this huge Star Wars fan, and she dies before the last movie. I mean, shit, how long was she waiting to see this stupid film, and she can't even live long enough, she has to die before that?. It just sucks
I remember after the Columbine shootings I read in the newspaper about a victim who was waiting for years for the Episode 1. He died April 20. May 19, the movie came out. What shitty luck.
The Amazing Spider-Man teaser trailer is out! I've always liked Dr. Octopus more than the Green Goblin, so I'm going to have high expectations for Alfred Molina's performance. The trailer looks fucking awesome!
Aliens Vs. Predator Originally I thought this movie would be pretty lame, something quickly tossed together after the success of Freddy Vs. Jason. (Yes, I know the idea is old, I was just afraid of the execution of it, so please, geeky fan boys no hate mail.) But since I watched this preview, which is mostly just storyboards, and finding out the director is Paul W.S. Anderson (writer/director of Resident Evil) I have a lot of hope, and high expectations, for this film.
Battlestar Galactica Most of the people who visit this site every week are starting to realize I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to this type of shit, but I'm telling you I don't care! This movie is so awesome, I mean the whole time I was watching it I just felt like a kid. It's a total revamp of the old show, but it doesn't lose any of the magic. Hopefully they'll turn it into a mini-series (it looks like they will) but the Sci Fi Channel will probably air it a hundred more times.
Star Wars Episode 3 Synopsis. OK, so there are a lot of rumors on the Internet over the plot of the next film (supposedly called "Revenge of the Sith") but this synopsis really does seem legit. A lot of the plot points in this match up with other things I've heard. Obi-Wan fights a four armed robot, each one equipped with a lightsabre! Count Dooku has both his arms chopped off and begs for his life! Yoda vs. Senator Palpatine! (Observant Dead Rabbit listeners will recognize Palpatine from my "clone army" analogy in "Regime Change"). This movie will be so fucking awesome.
Holes is one of my favorite books and one of my favorite films. It mixes a message of faith and family with violence and crime. The weird thing is that it works. I'm not going to say the book is better than the movie, they are pretty equal. I wish I could have sampled the movie, but Disney's too sue happy. Instead I settled for the Shia LaBeouf reference in "P & L".
Dawn of the Dead is a remake of George Romero's best film. Will it be good? Maybe. Will I crap my pants watching it anyways? Likely.
Tupac Resurrection If you don't see this movie, you are a pussy. You are not a true rap fan if you do not go and see this movie opening weekend. I did, and it was amazing. Also, the theatre was packed with GhettoBootyCats.
Resident Evil: Apocalypse Here's the teaser trailer that almost made me wet my pants. It's not too creepy, just clever, but remember I hate zombies.
The Ring is the best horror movie; and one of the most influential on "Sex Crimes." There are at least two Ring references on the album.
Star Wars is another movie with a big impact on my childhood, as well as the album. If you don't know what to buy me for Christmas, anything Star Wars will do.
Return of the Living Dead is the Russell Simmons of Zombie Movies. Everyone else has borrowed from this film, and for good reason. It's a great blend of humor and violence. This post-modern horror movie will inspire you to write your own zombie epic. Or blow out an elderly person's brains.
Gangs of New York , another favorite movie of mine. The violence is hypnotic, almost operatic. And no, I didn't get my name from this movie, but from the Irish gang in the movie. I read most of the book "The Gangs of New York" when I was in high school.
Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight Why is that Daddy Day Care has a full-on Flash site, but it took me an hour to find one GOOD fan site for this fucking awesome movie. I love this movie, one of my favorites, and is not to be confused with Daemon Knight!
Hell Comes to Bath. From the Court TV Crime Library, here is the story of the worst case of school violence in American history, and it wasn't even committed by a student. A great study in revenge.
Bible Time Line is a chronicalgal breakdown of the events of the Bible. An interesting study, whether or not you've read the Bible. They place the of Man around 4000 BC, which sounds too recent to me.
The Future of Humanity: a Lecture by Isaac Asimov An interesting transcript by science-ficton great Issac Asimov from a speech he gave.
SuperDickery: The Joker's Boner is comic book gold. Actually, the whole site is a smorgosboard of weird comic book covers and numerous examples that Superman is, well, a dick, but this is the stand out page. Back in the day, "boner" meant a practical joke. Now, as any 5th grader can tell you, it means a hard on. So when Joker pulls "The Boner of the Year" well, I think all this time we've been worried about Batman and Robin, but the Joker is the one starring in "Brokeback Batcave."
Ralan's site is a great website for writers. Looking for a place to submit your work? There are hundreds of markets here, from amateur to paying markets.
The Manifesto of the Communist Party The truth is in here. This book will eventually be remembered as the cornerstone of a newer, better human race.
Writing Pornography for a Living is an insider's look at a now-defunct profession: porn writing. With the invention of the internet and "free" porn, most people don't read porn anymore, but when I was a kid, I'd sneak into the corner liquor store and buy such timeless treasures as "Family Lust" and "Forbidden Letters." Good stuff. Anyways, this is an interesting article about the people behind those "true letters," as well as the porn novels.
Superman is a Dick is one of my favorite websites. It has covers from old Superman comics showing (or proving) that Superman is a jerk. They also have sections for racist comic book covers and weird ones. A great time capsule.
Digital Webbing is an interesting site for two reasons: 1) It focuses on new underground comics and 2) it actually has a Talent Search site where writers can meet up with artist to collabarate on projects. Check it out if you want to break into the comic biz.
IUniverse is a publishing house with a twist: they will publish any book as long as you pay them. It might sound a little cheesy, but hear me out. For indepenetent publishers, its a great way to go. You're book is available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble's websites. You can also buy copies for yourself and resell them to local bookstores. We plan on running a series of Dead Rabbit books, and this is probably the way we would do that.
Bible Gateway is an online resource that lets you read any version of the bible, as well up as look up verses and phrases
The H.P. Lovecraft Archive is a collection of H.P. Lovecraft's work. Pretty self-explantory. This is a replacement of an older link that became outdated.
Shel Silverstein Ah, youth! Such glorious memories of frolicking underneath the weepiest of weeping willows! And no childhood would be complete without being tramatuized. And nothing creeped me out more as a child than Shel Silverstein's "Where the Sidewalk Ends." Before Tim Burton, Shel's terrifying "children's" book featured poems about decapitation, death, monsters, and creepy children. It was well written, and entertaining, but the skethcy illustrations (many of which are on this site) is what was burned into my mind.
Orwell Today is a great companion piece to the novel "1984," a worthy read for any Zealot. This comprehensive site covers the elements from the book, as well as compars the future oppression of Big Brother to what is happening today. Sometimes it can be a little alarmist, though, making minor events into larger issues.
Vamp Encyclopedia is a nifty on-line resource that is all about "sons of Cain." Pretty extensive, sometimes it feels like it sags under its own weight to include everything. And, really, vampires are NOT sexy!
Wizard Entertainment is the leading comic industry magazine. The website is lacking, could use some more original content, but the magazine itself is one of the few mags I read every month.
Demon Possession Handbook is a nifty little guide on how to spot, diagnose, and cure demonic possessions. It is written with a Christian slant, and it's target auidence is public servents (health care professionals, social workers, etc.); the mixture makes for an interesting read.
Daemonologie is an Internet copy of a witch-hunting manual from the 1600s. Interesting reading if you have the patience for the old-tyme language.
Lolita "She was Lo, plain Lo in the morning, standing 4 feet 10 in one sock. She was Lola in slacks, she was Dolly at school, she was Dolores on the dotted line. In my arms she was always Lolita. Light of my life, fire of my loins, my sin, my soul. Lolita." So begins the great American novel by Vladimir Nabokov. Despite its lurid content (A 40 year old man fucks a 12 year old girl) it is actually a love story. An amazing book, make sure you read it because almost every song I've written in the past 4 months has a Lolita reference.
The Official Chuck Palahniuk Website Fight Club changed my life. It completely changed the way I looked at material possessions. Sure, call me so shallow that one movie/book can change my entire outlook. Just don't call me that to my face or smash your teeth out with a bowling ball. If you haven't read his other novels, I seriously suggest saving up some money or looting your local B and N and grabbing them. He's an amazing author and this is a great website for his fans, its very community driven. But it's kinda lame he's wearing a Fight Club shirt in one of the pictures. We get it, dude. You wrote Fight Club
Richard Matheson is one of the most horrifying authors. Stephen King considers him his influence, and that's saying a lot. Most kids today haven't read any of Matheson's work, and I hadn't even heard of him until last year. I was watching the commentaries for both "Blade 2" and "Return of the Living Dead," and in both films they considered Matheson's "I Am Legend" as their inspiration. "I Am Legend" is a novella about a world populated by vicious vampires and just one human. That was a great story, but my favorite of his is "Hell House." I read it in two days, and was terrified when I finished it. In "Polly Klass" the line "You're in a dank/a funk . . ." was inspired by the black swamp surrounding Hell House, which was referred as "The Dank." Also, Matheson wrote the short stories that eventually became "Trilogy of Terror," which featured the still-creepy Zulu Fetish doll.
American Psycho. Imagine being an unstoppable serial killer, able to slaughter anyone from NY city police officers to children at the zoo. For Patrick Bateman, this is a reality. And why can't he be stopped? Is he some supernatural creature, or a criminal mastermind? No, Bateman can kill at will because he is rich, handsome, and envied by all, even his victims. American Psycho is one of my favorite books, one of the only books that actually made me wince at the sheer brutality of it. Bret Easton Ellis's writing style is amazing, making even a yuppie listing his trappings of wealth seem interesting. "Die Yuppie Scum," what a catch phrase. The link here is for the movie, which was cool but came no where close to the energy of the book.
The Zombie Survival Guide by Max
Brooks. It's billed as a parody of survival manuals, but it's so in-depth, I just couldn't figure it out. I think it's a joke, God, I hope it's a joke, because otherwise we're one day from a zombie revolution. I do think that from here on out, this book will be the Bible for the zombie genre. Buy the book, and prepared just in case.
1984
is one of my favorite novels, and most of the songs on "Sex
Crimes" have 1984 references.
Marvel Comics taught me
how to read, and to love reading. I owe most of my vocabulary
to years of voracious comic reading.
The Haunted Places Directory is the
website of Dennis William Hauck. If you don't already know, he's a Sacramento
author of "The National Directory of Haunted Places." If it is haunted in
America, it is probably listed in this book. The best part for me is, since the
author is in Sacramento, the book is very California specific, although it does
cover every state in detail.
Unexplored Mysteries What, was "Unexplained Mysteries" already taken?
If a mystery is unexlpored, once it is discussed, it would be "explored" and should be taken off this site.
Google Earth Glitches You have to scroll
down a bit to get to the good stuff, but this is a collection of weird pics taken from the Big Brother technology that Hitler
would have given his left nut for. UFOs, flying cars, if it's bizarre and on earth somewhere, it's somewhere on this
site.
Ants: Swarm Intelligence I love ants. I mean, I really, really
love ants. They are the most amazing and advanced life form on the planet other than humans. I can't kill them. I'll run over a dog but
go out of my way to not kill ants. Read this article and you might see why I respect them so much.
Could Ancient Man Fly? What an interesting question. And
this site is talking about hang gliders. They have pics of Egyptian hieroglyphics of helicopters, and an ancient Indian handbook
for aerial warfare. Weird, but true?
Future Horizons is either the tightest website in the world or a load of bollocks. You can buy plans to build
Hoverboards, jet packs, even UFO detectors! Does any of this work? Well, they do have videos for some of it,
but the best thing I saw was the Mind Controller.
It looks hella cheap!
The Bermuda Triangle is a no-nonsense guide to
the official reports of the Bermuda Triangle. *Cue Creepy Music* Ever since I was a kid I was fascinated by mysteries like this. Is it water spouts? Aliens? Ghosts? Who knows,
but you might come to your own conclusions reading these reports. One thing I learned from this page is on the exact opposite side of the Earth there is the "Devil's Triangle"
where similar disappearances happen as well.
All Hallow's Eve is a kick-ass zombie game where you are
perched in your attic and you have to kill the zombies before they tear your barricades down. The more zombies you kill,
the more money you earn for weapons from hand guns to grenades. Addictive. can you survive the night?
Monster Masher is weird. It's a super basic card game, sort of
like Magic, The Gathering, but I can't stop playing it! Choose a random deck or build your own and go to war with robots and vampires.
And watch out for those Black Holes!
Urban Dead is a massive mulit-player game you can play online for free. Humans and zombies fight
for control of the city of Malton. Addictive to the point of irrational obsession, you can go it alone or join forces with other survivors or zombies.
You can find me as either DeadRabbit (Survivor), Basque5150 (zombie), or Dr. Weyoun (NecroTech Employee).
Divine Intervention is a really hard flash game where you
are a heavily-armed priest trying to survive . . .you guessed it, zombies. But the game is really fucking hard. I think I got to the second level, but who knows? Even with
the weapon upgrades it's hard as hell.
THE Definitive Penis Size Survey Results Want to see where you stack up? Check out this survey.
Some of it is pretty technical, but it's still an interesting read.
Land of The Dead: Road to Fiddler's Green Want another reason why I haven't finished "Father of the Year?"
I downloaded the demo to this game and played it over and over again. If you know me, you know I hate zombies, so killing them
is very entertaining to me. But I also always have to shut the game off before I die, because I can't stand losing to zombies.
It didn't get good reviews, but I think it's great.
Land of the Dead Shockwave Game is another fun game that makes me crap
my pants. I can't get past the first level. Once I hear the zombies coming I shut it off. But I'll beat it some day.
BulletTime is a reflex game.
How quick can you click, basically, to dodge a bullet.
Skins.be is THE wallpaper site on the Internet
if you're horny. Thousands of wallpapers of hot women and celebrities, and it's free!
This Batman Quiz on MSNBC is actually pretty hard. A great time waster.
There is also a Superman Quiz
Biblical Curse Generator is a goofy tool that will randomly spit out a Biblical-esque curse.
Barely funny, but interesting none the less.
G.I. Joe PSAs is a semi-funny site where someone took those old G.I. Joe
public service announcements at the end of each episode, and did some "funny" voice overs. At least that's the premise, but the
truth is they're not that funny. I'm posting this link just because the idea itself is clever.
The Fleshlight is the world's greatest invention. Ever.
Ghoul: Fatal Addiction proves there is site for everyone. This site is for
players of the Vampire: The Masquerade who play as Ghouls. Ghouls are like half-zombies/half-vampires that do stuff, I guess.
I just thought this was a pretty in-depth page on such an inane topic, I had to stick it in. Vampires, that's cool. But
ghouls?
America's 10 Darkest Alleys is from
Maxim Magazine (which is less funny then it used to be). It's a bleak exploration into America's urban jungle. Hmm, that sounded kinda pretentious.
ASIMO is the Advanced Step in Mobility, and I'm
exactly for sure if that is what that means, but here's a clip of good ol' ASIMO running. I saw this guy when he came to
Sac State awhile back. It's insane how far this technology has come.
Garden of Dreams is a cool, if not exactly purposeful, on-line game
where you
use your mental powers to control the action.
Leia's Metal Bikini is a website devoted to geeks of the
highest, and I mean highlest, order.
It features girls who have either built or purchased there own costume, and then pictures of said costume. Some, uh,
maybe one
of the girls is cute. The rest . . .well see for
yourself. And what's wrong with Darth
Vader's neck?
FBI's "X-Files". Here's a collection of reports the FBI did on subjects like cattle mutuilations, UFOs, and Majestic 12. Of course, it's pretty
dry, but interesting none the less.
Comic Babes, from Wizard, is a bizarre, arousing site that features porn models "dressed" like super-heroes. I don't
think I can explain it any better than that.
Guess the Dictator and/or Television Sit-Com Character This is probably one of my favorite sites on the Web. What you do is
think of a real-life dictator or sitcom character, answer a set of questions, and the site will tell you what character you are thinking of. I've done everyone from Bart Simpson to Pol Pot
and it's always been right. I'm sure there's something simple behind the way it works but it's Greek to me.
Fake Fags is not what you think. Well, it kinda is. Fag is British slang
for cigarettes. So his is a site that sells stickers to put over health labels on your ciagrette boxes. Favorites include:
"You will get fat if you stop smoking" and "You could get hit by a bus tomorrow." Also, you can buy a "I Love Fags"
ash tray. Just make sure you don't leave fingerprints on it when you chuck it at Dick Cheney's daughter.
South Park Create-A-Character is a
fun site for the terribly bored, you can pick from dozens of South Park-esque body styles (everything from the
trademark big round head to AK-47s) and build a South Park body. There's enough choices to keep you entertained
for awhile. I just wish they had a way to save or print out the pic.
MySpace is the best on-line community I've seen. Fuck Friendster! In MySpace, you don't need to be invited; anyone can sign up. Check out me and Dru
Bangedup.com is just another one of those gross Rotten type of sites, but with more content. Snuff films, porn and everything in between can be
found here, including the "Nick Berg beheading"
Asian Pride is a funny Flash video sent to
me by BadAssAsianBabe. And please, save your hate mail calling me a racist. Have a fucking sense of humor.
Clockdown You know it wouldn't be a link update without a Star Wars link. At this site you can download a countdown clock for a few movies, Episode 3 being the coolest, especially with the different skins. But who the fuck would download the Alanis Morrisette clock?
Impact Effects Oh, this is a site only a nerd could love. Put in a few variables (size of the meteor, distance from impact, angle of descent, etc.) and it will calculate the destruction. Would be cooler with some Flash, though.
Quizno's Subs. Man, their subs are the shit, a little expensive, but still worth the occasional splurge, But the best thing about this site is those screaming shrews. God, their annoying but you just can't ignore them. Download the screensaver.
Phone Actress Oh come on, you all want
to do it. Here's a website where you can apply to be a phone sex operator. I haven't
called up yet, I'm afraid that all the male operators have to do gay sex stuff.
Girls, or more adventurous guys, find out for me what the deal is here. Looks pretty legit.
1001 Fonts This is a great resource for web-designers or beginning
graphic artists. A little cheesy? Yeah, maybe
if you really have a good design background, but for the rest of us, there's a lot of cool fonts that
we can use. The first thing I do when I get a new computer is visit this site and download all the fonts
I think I'll need for projects.
Masumi Max is the hottest chick, not simply because she has a great body, but she
can be ANYONE she wants. Check out her site. In every pic she's a totally different person. And she loves toting guns,
which is always a plus. She goes from school girl to secret agent to kidnap victim, and brings a raw sexuality to each
character. Yeah, I know I'm gushing. Check her out, and no I don't get paid for sending people to her site.
Attack of the Tweety Zombies
Oh what would a link update be without a zombie reference. "Attack of the Tweety Zombies" is horrifying. OK, maybe that's
an exaggeration, but bleh, now whenever I see Tweety I think of this game. It's hella creepy if you lose too!
Zombie Pinups This site is so gross, I didn't even
want to pull the page up to make sure I had the right link. Bleh, my two least favorite things:
zombies and "retro" websites. What's up with the rockabilly design. I hate rockabilly, except for
Hank 3, and he's barely rockabilly. Why am I talking so much
about music when I should be talking about this link? Cause this link is that disturbing!
Magballs is the brain child of Jeff
Bellamy, a good friend of dear old Dead Rabbit. It's actually a pretty cool idea;
adjustable bracelets that use magnets. When you get bored in class, you take it
apart piece by piece and build little pyramids and shit. The ultimate tool for
anyone who fidgets a lot, like me.
Elegant Gothic Lolitas is a sub-culture in Japan
that is slowly gaining ground in the U.S. Girls dress up as . .
.well girls but from the Victorian Era. No, these are not the
Renaissance freaks who don't know how to spell "fair." This is like Goth culture meets "Alice in Wonderland," which is like my fantasy.
Read the article, then check out some pics here
Zombie Sim: Nuke
It! Oh, what would a new link update be without another zombie
simulator! Here we have a game just like the last one, but
this one is interactive. You have the ability to nuke the city and
wipe out the zombies before they over-run the humans.
Zombie Infection Simulator This is a simple program that will show you how long it takes for a small population to become completely infected by zombies. Sometimes the humans fight back and win, but it's rare. This site is oddly addictive.
Ghost Source. OK, I know this is a rap music website, but I just think all this paranormal stuff is cool. So deal with it. Here's a slick, professional site that has testimonials (which I never believe), lots of pics, and even a chance to be on TV, telling your own true-life ghost stories. See, I can deal with ghosts, but not zombies.
The Federal Vampire and Zombie Agency is a
cool site, that is either fun and entertaining, or makes you extremely paranoid.
I hate zombies, with a passion. They scare the shit out of me, but I can't help
watching zombie movies, reading zombie books. Bleh. This type of stuff is
nightmare city for me.
Peachez16, the new most beautiful girl
on the Internet, has become Peachez18. Now
she can do nude pics, but I think she was hotter before.
Rap Hunnies is a site
where you can rate ghetto girls according to how attractive
they are. A nice way to spend an hour or two.
Hollywood Stock Exchange is
how I spend my mornings. It's addictive as hell, and also
keeps you updated on the newest projects. If you want to go
to head to head with me, I'm basque5150.
Rotten Tomatoes
is the best movie review site, simply because it simplifies
the process. It takes a group of reviews and rates the movie
like a report card. My favorite part is reading reviews of
terrible movies.
Lear's
Shadow is a bizarre site that compares seemingly random
events. Pretty interesting stuff.
Got Psi is a place where you
can take a few psychic tests, and they'll keep track of your results. I never get
anything higher than chance, though.
"Charges Mulled in Alleged School Shooting Plot"
OK, so in case you haven't caught on yet, this is how this works: The cops send in a undercover agent (or a snitch
that they've caught for some other crime) and they provoke kids into planning a school shooting. And once the kids
are dumb enough to follow along and write down details, they get arrested.
"A Defiant Sheen Challenges Official 9/11 Fable on National TV"
Oh Charlie, I loved you in "Good Advice." No, seriously, I
love that movie. But anyways, he is the first mainstream celebrity to question the official version on 9/11. Does this mean
anything in the grand scheme of things? Get back to me in 50 years and we'll see how the history books are written.
"Of Avatars and Mob Justice: Invasion of Privacy, or Just Desserts?"
I hate these guys. Perverted Justice poses as kids, lure child molesters to online chat rooms (or the molesters find them),
and then they turn it over to the authorities. Sure, people think they're protecting kids now, but we will learn to accept this
as the normal, and in five years people will be using the same tactics to entrap illegal immigrants and political dissidents.
Fascism is hard to identify when it starts, but easy to point out when it is in the past.
Lyndon LaRouche is a nutcase, I've
gone over that before in the Politics links, but this article focuses on how he brainwashes college students to join his
ranks, and the extreme measures he takes to keep them.
"Online Daters Sue Matchmaking Sites For Fraud"
I can't say I really feel sorry for people who have to pay to meet people, but it is pretty messed up to have professional
flirts to keep customers from canceling their subscriptions.
"Police: Neighbor Planned to Eat Slain Okla. Girl"
Sign 847 of the coming zombie apocalypse: An increase in cannibalism. Well, at least this guy picked a chubby girl to eat, so he was
thinking ahead to the long winter.
I think I'd rather just take the ticket.
"Pentagon Reveals Rejected Chemical Weapons"
Just two words: Gay Bomb
April 4, 2004: You think your memory is fool proof? Think again. Memories can be implanted so deep that you'd swear it was all true. An interesting article that proves a picture is worth more than a 1000 words.
"98% Chance That This is a Military-Industrial Complex Psyop "
May 14, 2004: If you think this is just conspiracy garbage, open your eyes and a history book. I'm not saying this is true, but with the shit the CIA has done in the past, I wouldn't put it past this government.
For anyone who ever wanted to be an spaceman . . . When I was a kid, I wrote several short stories that take place on Venus. I was taught that it was filled with lush jungles, and I belived it until a few months ago. Oh well.
"Ghostbusters To Test Naval Base"
May 27, 2004: I always think it's interesting, but not proof positive, when governments investigate hauntings or paranormal activity. Does it mean they belive? No, not really. A lot of time it's the last resort to calm spooked servicemen. However, Europe does seem to have a more acceptable attitude towards supernatural activity than we do.
"Claim made for new form of life"
May 19, 2004: Science is always evolving. Reading articles like this are amusing because they seem to tell the same story: Radical scientist comes up with a theory and the established scientfic community slams his belife into the ground. 50 years from now, who remembers the curmudeons? It is the radicals that make science move forward.
May 25, 2004. Beyond the pictures, read the accounts of women who have been raped by U.S. prison guards.
"Wait! It's a ... : Unidentified creature stumps experts"
June 3, 2004. Just to prove we don't know everything about the world; here's some weird creature running around England that no one can identify. If there's something like this out there, then why not a Bigfoot? Science is only limited by the ignorance of the men who practice it.
15 Anomalies Surrounding
Death Of Nick Berg.
May 14, 2004: Here's an interesting article debunking the whole thing as CIA created
propaganda. The first time I watched the video, I was thinking: "Damn, those are some fat terrorists!"
Those issues, as well as a few others, are addressed here.
"Thousands may be harboring vCJD"
May 21, 2004: vCJD is the human version of "Mad Cow Disease." Scientists in Britain used to believe that no more than 540 people would get vCJD. Now, studies show that over 3000 people may already have it. And they
test their beef over there, the Bush administration think it's wasteful to start doing it on a wide scale
here. See you in the insane asylum.
"Doctors Puzzled by Man's Shrinking
Brain"
May 20, 2004: The left side of his brain is 10% smaller than the right side, and it's getting smaller. No
one can figure out why. The beginning of a new neurological disease?
"McLean Man Charged With Smearing Hotel Room Full of Vaseline"
May 17, 2004: This is disgustingly funny. Bleh, do you know how badly that much Vaseline must smell? And he did it in two diffrent rooms! Didn't anyone notice he was greased up?
"Claim made for new form of life"
May 19, 2004: These types of discoveries always intrigue me. Not because of the discovery itself, but how
other scientists are so quick to diss it. We have made up measurements to define life; if something falls
outside of those measurements we shouldn't dismiss it outright.
"Fast Facts: Look at Spain's ETA"
March 11, 2004Here's a quick view of ETA, the Basque separatist
group striving to free the Basque. In case you didn't know, I'm part Basque, and consider
myself a Basque nationalist. Good or bad, I'm with them. Most Americans didn't even know who the Basques were until the
Madrid bombings, and even then they only heard about part of the struggle.
Feburary 19, 2004: An interesting article about "Medal of Honor: Rising Sun" and how well it is accepted in Japan, considering the
first level is Pearl Harbor, and the game's main enemy is the Japanese. Is it ok for people to pretend to kill their ancestors?
Is the game play more important than the history behind it?
Feburary 19, 2004: OK, I'm not a big Slate fan, they always seem to be three steps behind the
cultural zeitgeist, but maybe they're right about Kayne. I always think it's bad to label something as "The Next Big Thing" or "The It",
which is what they do for Kayne, but the article is more interesting because it's true: Hip Hop has become stagnant.
"Convicted Cannibal Lives As A Free Man"
Feburary 4, 2004: I'm all for rehabilitation. If you've served your time, you should be free to leave. What the scariest thing
about this guy is (well, not as scary as the fact that he scalped his girlfriend "just to see what it would look like")
but the fact that the article ends: "However, he does not have the ability to comprehend how other people think,
and he has no empathy." Well shit, what's he doing out then! Empathy is what keeps man from tearing each other apart
every day!
"Attack of Stalin's Monster Crabs"
These crabs, which span as wide as 3 feet and 25lb claws are overrunning the natural wildlife in Norway. I want to train
them to fight dogs and shit. Or ride them like roller-skates. Really, really slow roller-skates.
"Thar she blows! Dead whale explodes"
January 29, 2004. If you see only one picture of an exploded whale this year, make it this one. A huge dead whale was being
trucked
around Taiwan, and when all the gasses in it's carcass built up, the whale exploded. The pictures are bad enough, but
the ending of the article is disturbing as well: "More than 100 Tainan city residents, mostly men, have reportedly gone
to see the corpse to 'experience' the size of its penis . . ."
"Boy's eyes plucked out in witchcraft
ceremony"
Feburary 11, 2004. And you thought growing up in America was tough. Can you imagine having your eyes pulled out of your head? The
article is brief, which makes me think A) It's a rumor or B) it's just to gruesome to talk about. There were some problems
in London last year, Scotland Yard kept pulling mutilated kids out of the Thames and traced it back to some Voodoo-ish cult,
but for the most part it is very hard to track down these maniacs. After all, these guys almost became invisible!
"Ghost Image At Britain Hampton's Court"
12/19/03
Eep! Is this a hoax, or is that a ghost standing at the door? This footage was taken from a security camera, and you
kind of have to wonder why would someone at Hampton Court want to fake a sighting? Ghosts in Britain are like Russians
at a Winco; you can't walk to steps without tripping over them.
"Humans Could Live For Hundreds Of Years"
October 23, 2003: So a couple of scientists were able to splice the genes of a worm and make it live longer than it should. What do you think is going through that little dude's mind? Millions of years of evolution are telling him he should be dead by now, but he keeps going. Kinda weird. And the thought of having to spend hundreds of years on this planet just make me feel tired.
"Sadaam Was Sure of His Own Survival"
November 2, 2003 So you thought you could wait us out, huh? You little bitch, you should have put a bullet in your head and died like a man. Now, you're America's bitch. You know, though, they keep saying that he's in some room or jail cell, and that's bullshit. They have him in some nice room, comfortable and warm. Yeah, he's still a captive, but being a world leader they're not going to throw him in a cell. Don't believe the disinfo.
"ACLU Defends Budding Horror Writer"
November 30, 2003 Here's another "school administration gone mad" story. This poor kid is encouraged by one teacher and turned in by another, and then it just gets out of control, all over a stupid story. Just when you thought you were free to express yourself . . .
Slain Soldier's Father
Criticizes Lynch's Book Deal"
September 4, 2003. Here it is from the horse's
mouth: His son was killed in the attack that made Lynch a household name.
"Where's the million-dollar book deal for the other members of the 507th who were
killed? How do they tell their story?" For questions or comments, just email us at DeadRabbitRecords@hotmail.com
