04/09/2008: Dead Rabbit Lives! It's been almost a year since an update, but we never left. Mostly, things have been going well, it's just we've neglected the website. But no more. We are back to weekly updates and a few more surprises.
The site is currently undergoing a redesign. That's why some of the pages have the white background and some have the black. We are trying to find a way to balance the look of the site with the functionality of it, so this will probably be ongoing but every thing will still be functioning.
The Podcasts are coming back in May. A lot of you liked those and now we have a hosting plan to allow easier downloading and streaming. They will be weekly and around a half an hour or less.
The blogs will be operating soon again too, probably weekly as well and eventually daily. Once those are up and running again I'll repost the links prominently.
And, last but never least, we are currently recording Father of the Year! And on the site we will feature B-Sides and alternate lyrics as soon as they are ready. So thanks for sticking with us and I'll see you again in a week!
06/03/2007: OK, so now that things are winding down on the production for the new CD "Father of the Year," We'll have more time to update the website. So here we go:
First off, we have a new Drusilla. She'll be singing and rapping on the new CD, but for now, you can just hear a clip of her on "DeadWorld Part 1". We'll have more, and longer, work from her shortly.
If you want to get a hold of me, the easiest way is my MySpace page. It's also easier for me to get a hold of all of you, assuming you are an attractive teenage girl.
We are also trying to get the Podcast and News sections up, but right now they're pretty much out of comission. Sorry, we'll try to get them going but they are actually the hardest parts of the site to maintain. Plus the podcasts take fucking forever to record. But I know a lot of you enjoy them, so they are worth it.
01/10/2007: Has it really been that long?
This is our first update in about 6 months, but the time has been spent well elsewhere. The new CD, "Father Of The Year," is all but finished, the studio is built, and our new record label "Records of Ruin" is ready to go.
Also, an interesting note, our Drusilla wallpaper has been downloaded 20,000 times in the month of December 06 alone. Thanks to everyone promoting Dead Rabbit, even if it is just on your monitor!
     07/09/2006: Dead Rabbit on Mars!!!

I am so not making this up. You can check out the NASA website here.
So I am the first, interplanetary rapper!
07/04/2006: OK, I know I don't update this site as much as I used too, but if you think about it, that is a good thing. It means I am actually working on more of the CD stuff.
Anyways, we had a concert, and Drusilla flew out to be a part of it. You can check out the MP3s of the show here
We also did a promo for a local radio station, 107.9 The End, and the promo and an on-air discussion can be found in the Lab. We also now working on a new promo for them.
03/26/2006: Gee, a whole new year. Three months since the last update, but the time's been put to good use.
We came out with a rough-draft of "Father of the Year," which got, well how can I say this . . .panned. We ran it by a few of our local fans, and they just weren't feeling it.
The new version has some substantial changes, which leads me to my second point. With the new CD, if you order from DeadRabbit.com, you will receive a Producer's Commentary version with myself, Cliff Claven and other guests commenting on the music and how it came to be. It should be interesting, I hope, and give you an idea of how the songs came to be, as well as discussing the failed ideas and alternate versions of the songs.
On a sadder note, Drusilla from the first album is gone, but we now have a new Dru to carry on. I hope to post some pics of her soon.
12/07/2005: Yes, I am still here, yes, we are still making music. It's just been a crazy few months, and I won't bore you with the details so let's get down to brass tacks:
We're up and blogging now, with a few different blogs for different issues:
Father of the Year Blog is a blog where I will be keeping you all updated on how the album is going. Lyrics will still be posted on the main website, and the blog will also be archived here as well.
Dead Rabbit's Studio Blog is a gripping, harrowing account of one man's struggle with trying to build a recording studio with absolutely no money.
The Life and Death of Dead Rabbit is a classic blog in the sense it's just a daily diary of what's going on in my life, and general thoughts about the albums, my career, and music and entertainment in general.
Dead Rabbit's News Blog is an MSNBC blog where I will be posting regular comments on news stories and events.
Yes, I know what you're thinking: "He can barely keep one site updated, now he has four?" Well, the reason behind this is that I can update these sites at work, which will give me more times to update. Also, if I die, these will be the sites to let you know. The passwords to these sites will be given to Drusilla, Chocobo, and Rude Mechanicals so they can update them if I am unable to.
Also, I am putting the Comic's page back up. The link for now will be in the Lab. I took it down because nobody was reading them, but in the past few months I've gotten more and more hits on those pages. I'll be updating the comics every week or two.
Some of you (Josh) have noticed I mispelled "their on the album cover. I'll get that fixed before it hits the streets. It's just me being sloppy.
Some have you have also already noticed that some of the lyrics for "Father of the Year" are being posted. I'll try to keep up on those, but the lyrics keep changing so much I don't know if I'm going to keep changing it.
So far, on this new CD we're going to have Dead Rabbit, Drusilla, Gherkin, and Scavie Jay. Cliff Claven is producing 13 of the tracks, and Gherkin is producing one track as well. Rude Mechanicals and El Gringo should also be on the CD as far as background vocals.
Also, and I think this is probably the first time I'm talking about it, but we are currently writing a series of Dead Rabbit books. Be prepared to ask your teacher if you can use them for book reports!
07/13/2005: Ugh, it's been about a month since this site has last been updated. I thought we could get more updates when school was out but the new album is taking up a lot of time.
First off, I've spent the last two days working on the new album cover. Right now, this is just a prototype but the final one will look similar to this.
Also, the songs are coming along pretty well. There are a few, like "Empty Bed," that are just in the development phase right now. The whole album will be finished in time for the October release date.
Ok, so we've added a few goodies to the website.
Mail: This is the hate mail section, which I get a lot of. There have not been any updates to it yet. I need to convert the letters to html, which won't take long. I plan on adding one a week.
The Lab: This is a "catch-all" place on the site, where there will be links to my blog as well as notes on the new album, and film clips and info that I think are important or relevant but no other place to put them.
I took down the comics, and the "Choose Your Own Adventure" I was planning on doing, but if they get put back up they will be located in the Lab.
One last thing, I finally got the pic of one of my fan's tattoos. He had "Dead Rabbit" tatted on his forearms. Now that is fucking dedication. He has also done some fan art for me. Both the tats and his art can be seen in the "Pics" section.
06/05/2005: Yes I know I haven't updated the site in awhile. Finishing up school, just got off vacation, and I'm deep in the production of "Father of The Year." I'll get a full update throughout the week, and back to weekly updates monday night!
03/23/2005: Last update I made a mention of a student who posted a webpage on her school server about my music. A week later, it is removed! Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. But right now I'm getting ready to repost it for everyone who missed it.
Last, but never least: We had another school shooting Monday, and already the blogs are blowing up. "It was the parents! Video games! This kid was a freak!" and of course, I get brought into the mix.
Because, of course, rap has to drive people to murder.
I've been linked to this shooting by more than a few accusers but it's really too early to tell what set him off. All we know is the shooter, along with 9 others, were alive Sunday and are dead today.
Whether or not he was inspired by my music, I still feel bad for him. I'm sure thousands of people will rally, call him a monster, etc. But these things are hollow cries to a pitch-black sky. He was no monster. He was a boy who saw this as his only option. It is sad, but it is sadder that Americans don't realize why this is happening.
We celebrate the brutal killing of 28 'insurgents' in Iraq, and mourn 7 dead in our own cities. Both happened Monday. We celebrate death and violence, simply because our 'enemy' disagrees with our world view. If someone sees that, if a child is raised in a nation where violence trumps debate, how do you expect them to lash out?
03/09/2005: Lots of news, lots of updates this week:
NEW MP3s: We got "Fiery Dragon Kid" from Gherkin, a Sacramento rapper who is going to be on "Father of the Year." We also have some samples from Sha-Rock, another Sacramento notable rapper. This was the CD that I heard and said: "I can do this."
In other news, I've seen some more websites reporting the New York Mall Shooting/Dead Rabbit connection. But the best one is The Trenchcoat. I'm a mutant! Look for my response at the bottom.
Another comic is up, plus from now on we're aiming for one a week.
02/24/2005: If anyone wants to know how to be a Zealot, here's a good example.
I'm not for sure who put this up, but it brings a lot of visitors to the main site here. Whoever it is, they are doing a great job of getting the word out about our music!
If you want to follow their example, but don't know exactly how, just e-mail me and I can give you some more specific tips.
Yes, I know the special sites still aren't up. Soon, soon! But at least now the new comics is finally fixed. Sorry.
02/17/2005: A interesting news clip:
New York Mall Shooter Inspired by Shock Rapper
New York mall shooter Robert Bonelli Jr was inspired by Dead Rabbit's hit underground song, "Casa Rebel."
(PRWEB) February 17, 2005 -- New York police have found several bootleg copies of Dead Rabbit's album, "Sex Crimes," at the home of accused gunman Robert Bonelli Jr.
Bonelli, a 25 year old resident of New York, was apparently fascinated by Dead Rabbit's vivid description of a Columbine-like massacre in the song "Casa Rebel."
Police sources speculate that Bonelli was a "Zealot," or follower of the shock rapper Dead Rabbit.
Dead Rabbit released the following statement on his website www.DeadRabbit.com:
"While we are saddened that innocent people have been hurt by Bonelli, the reason by the shooting must be fully explored. Whether it was a random action or a political statement must be discovered. If he was truly inspired by our music, then neither his aim nor location (of the shooting) should be in doubt."
Dead Rabbit's music often describes violence as a form of protest. From harrassing preppie students to bombing a popular "yuppie" nightspot in Sacramento, CA, Dead Rabbit promotes the destruction of the "1 percent"; a slang term for the ruling class.
02/02/2005: Good news Zealots (or, "Bad news, Marc Klass") "Sex Crimes has sold out at the local record stores! Within two weeks we were wiped out, and now we're getting ready to restock. This is pretty much unheard of for a local CD with no advertising. OK, so some more "Father of the Year" news:
Track listing (Incomplete)
1. Prologue
2. Rock the Vote
3. Delilah
4. Alwayz into Something
5. Confessions of a (c)rap artisit
6. Dark City
7. Elizabeth Smart
8. Workaday World
9. The Official Guide to Being a Non-Conformist
10. The Serpent and the Rainbow
There are at least 4 other tracks that we are currently working on.
01/12/2005: Happy New Year, Zealots! We have a new launch for "Sex Crimes" in the coming months, plus "Father of the Year," Dead Rabbit's full length debut, coming out in May.
Starting next week, there will be a seperate page dedicated to "FOTY" news, but here's a quick slip down the vaccum tube:
1. There will be 11-13 tracks total, plus at least three "skits" that will really flesh out Dead Rabbit and the world he lives in.
2. Drusilla will be in "FOTY"
3. Dr. Huxxxtable will be in "FOTY"
4. There will be a guest appearance by a kick-ass, local rapper.
5. Scavie Jay, a new rapper, will be in "FOTY"
6. Rude Mechanicals will appear in "FOTY"
Also, we now have new web comics that will be featured each week and turned into flyers as well for Zealots to pass out. We are still working on the page for the comics but here is the first one, "Jock Shock!"
12/30/04: Have a happy new year, Zealots! Brand new news and old enemies join us in in 05!
12/09/04: "Father of the Year" is officially in pre-production. The beats are being composed, the lyrics are being written, and the Zealots are going crazy waiting for the new shit to drop. This CD will make "Sex Crimes" look like a Disney movie. Believe it. More news (and lyrics from the next CD) coming next week.
11/30/04: As you can see, we are in a bit of an overhaul mode for the site. Now that Christmas break is coming up, we have a little more time to do the routine maintence that's been so lacking on this site. We're pretty much looking at a re-launch of both the CD and the site. The links are still lagging a day behind, but will be up 12/1.
11/18/04: So yes, I know "Poor People" is not up yet. In fact, it won't be because we're working on the new CD. The mixtape project is on hold, for now, and "Poor People" will be on the NEW ALBUM! I just love saying that. I really have to thank everyone who has supported me so far and given us the knowledge that people want more Dead Rabbit.
On a similar note: To all the music lawyers out there, a question. I want to sample Marc Klaas's voice on my next CD. If it a public newscast, is it free domain? Hit me up at Dead Rabbit
11/07/04: OK here's the score. I have 10000 fans nationwide, about one hundred high schools have Dead Rabbit Zealots in them, and a very dedicated group known as the Black Boots have formed splinter organizations in my name.
Don't you think that might buy me a little clout?
Guess not, because Vera Vaccaro, principal of Casa Roble (my old high school and the inspiration for 'Casa Rebel') has not only conducted and illegal smear campaign against me, but refuses to meet with me in person to debate the issues my song brings up
Starting in January, the Dead Rabbits will begin installing our own student run newspapers and shadow student govts. in high schools and colleges across the country, to prove to lackluster dead beats that free speech can never be stifled.
Oh, and speaking of free speech, feel free to tell Vera what you think of her cowardly decision to hide behind titles and bureaucracy instead of discussing the student rights in person. She wants to label me, an simple artist, as some sort of terrorist. She must have voted for Bush, because like him she believes the real weapons of mass destruction are truths she refuses to believe.
The world isn't flat, Vera. It's round, and it's big enough for all of us. If only you and your kind could ever understand that . . .
10/30/04: Just a quick announcement, a little early Christmas cheer for all of the Black Boots and Zealots out there.
Dead Rabbit's debut, full lenght album "Father of the Year" is currently in pre-production. More updates after the election. Vote Nader!
09/08/04: So the new lyrics are up, but the song isn't yet. We are hoping to finish that today. Also, Dead Rabbit News will now be updated more-or-less daily. The links, artwork, and MP3s will be updated weekly
09/02/04: We got the lyrics to the new Dead Rabbit song "Poor People up, so check them out and tell us what you think. The full song will be posted next week. The Links section is still be worked up, but we will be on both legs next week.
Other additions next week
Project Petaluma: We are getting ALOT of good response down in our enemies stronghold. So we will be printing out flyers like the one you see on our front page and we're going to plaster the city in late September
The first chapter of the new "Steal This Book." We're updating it for today's struggle, as well as have links to the original version.
Black Boots. nuff said
08/30/04: OK we're still here, though quite a few changes have happened to the organization. There will be a full update this Wednesday, Sept 1. All new updates will be on Wednesday morning from here on out as well. Thank you for everyone for being loyal these past two months; your faith in us will not be in vain.
06/09/04: UPDATE: We are having some QA issues with the new single. It'll be up ASAP
06/07/04: Ok, the whole roommate story will have to wait one more week: it'll actually be going into a new "Article" section that is going up on the site next week.
The big news now is that this Wednesday, yes, three days from now, you will be able to download a NEW Dead Rabbit song "Poor People"! Check back Wednesday morning and be the first to download it!
05/31/04: Sorry to interupt last week's story; I'll finish it next week. I just wanted to let everyone know that Dru is the hospital, she's having some complications with her health, but everything is looking up.
05/23/04: Dead Rabbit's Bizarre But True Life
Part 1
I used to live with this guy, and when I first met him, he would be considered by anyone's standards a modest success: his own business that he loved, a good wife, lots of friends. I moved in with him when he was at his peak. I was proud of him, everyone who knew him was.
Then he started drinking. A lot. So much that he sweated alcohol. I'd come home and the house would reek of liquor.
He lost his job.
In a year, he couldn't find another job. He'd say, "Well, I don't know what I want to do with my life yet so I'm just not going to work until I find out what I want to do" (he's 37 years old!)
All this time, all these warning signs, and I don't leave. I just kind a keep to myself in my room, working on "Sex Crimes,"
Anyways, he ends up getting a DUI, which of course must be everyone else's fault but his. So a month after the DUI he tells me he's kicking me out. He "gives" me 45 days to leave, but then after a week begins getting really creepy, shuts off my cable (which he's tapped into illegally anyways, so what's the big deal if I'm on it to.), and begins making a pitiful attempt and hiding his problem from me. (Empty 40s in the recycle bin? Gee, how did these get here?) Plus, he got so creepy he scared off my GhettoBootyCats.
His problem now invaded my life.
To be concluded next week!
05/17/04: Oh man, it's 4:56 Monday morning, and I'm at Guitar Center.
So what's the point behind telling you about my personal life? Doesn't it diminish my "rapper" image to imagine Dead Rabbit sitting at Kinkos with his sneakers kicked off, typing away on his broken laptop, drinking Rockstar just to keep his eyes open?
My point is that, yeah things are cool for me because of the success of "Sex Crimes," but I'm still just a dude who has finals, works 10 hours a day, gets ambushed by an alcohol-reeking roomie, and spends his lunch hour wondering where all my money went.
Man, after re-reading that I have a fucked up life.
Anyways, my point is that things do not get better in life. Never. Where you are at now, you will always be. Maybe move and inch up. Possibly move a foot down. But life will not get better than it is right now. Don't get me wrong, I love doing this thing, but it doesn't change the realities of life. Neither does fame, or money, or power, and none of us will ever have any of those.
This is not meant to be a downer, or a warning; it's a wake-up call. Work for the Now. Don't just dream, do it. But even when you're dreams are fulfilled, don't expect Fate to be happy for you. Just keep trudging through life, the swamp that it is, and realize the only thing you have control over is how you let the shit in this world affect you.
And if none of this makes sense to you, remember: I'm writing this at 4:56 am.
04/30/04: "Sex Crimes" is a hit! So far the amount of interest we are generating in the CD is more than we expected, and we have actually had to order more CDs than previously thought. We want to thank all of you who have been spreading the word about Dead Rabbit nationwide.
So far, over 2000 people have joined the Street Team in one capacity or another. That is a huge success!
Also, over 300 high schools have joined the Dead Rabbit Revolution. Starting this week, we will begin to list those high schools, and if yours is not on the list, then email us.
This month, the bi-weekly mixtapes will start, and we will also be bringing you more pics, interviews, and articles to keep you coming back. If you have any suggestions, or would like to write for us, just e-mail us atDeadRabbitRecords@hotmail.com
If it sounds like I'm just soliciting for your e-mails, I am. I love hearing from you, and it keeps us motivated. We get ALOT of hate mail, but once a day there's a letter that lets us know we are not shouting in the dark.
04/14/04: We have just sold out of our first printing of "Sex Crimes!" Yes, we currently are ordering small amounts, but the demand is high. Also, we are possibly going to have to rasie the price of the CD so we can offer special deals to local retailers. So far, Tower Records have agreed to carry "Sex Crimes." You can purchase it at any Northern California Tower Store, and if you don't see it, be sure to ask.
03/29/04: The CD is selling pretty good, and the Street Teams are really moving things. The word is out: Dead Rabbit is alive. Over 150 high schools and colleges have registered as part of the Dead Rabbit Empire.
How do you register your school? Just e-mail your school name to DeadRabbitRecords@hotmail.com, then we'll know we have supporters in that part of the world. Soon, we will have a list of all the schools involved, but your name will never be made public.
Also, we're working on a "How To Rebel At School" manual that will become your bible. Use it, and tear down those who would stop us.
03/26/04: This is pretty much just a mid-week update. Things have been pretty hectic here since "Sex Crimes" dropped, so I'm trying to get back into the groove of updating every Sunday night. Also, we're putting together the first free mixtape download. Starting in April, every two weeks you will be able to download a new Dead Rabbit song!
03/09/04: The CD will ship from the factory on March 12, so we should be getting them around the 20th. I apologize to those who have already placed thier orders; we're getting them to you as soon as possible!
It's official, we are looking for a new Dru. Due to personal reasons, Drusilla will not be working with us for the foreseeable future. You may see her in some of our upcoming on-line exclusive raps, but for promotional/touring purposes, we will be looking for a new female rapper.
Think you have what it takes? Are you over 18 and live in Nor Cal? Drop me a line at DeadRabbitRecords@hotmail.com. We are going to be auditionig local rappers first, but may eventually look nation-wide.
Back to the On-Line Exclusive raps; this is something we've really wanted to do for awhile. Starting later this month, every two weeks a new Dead Rabbit orginal will be available for download.
02/24/03: Yes, we have just finished the move from deadrabbitrecords.com to just plain old deadrabbit.com. If you have any of the old pages bookmarked, remember to update them! I'm sure you notice there are some changes in the design of the site, we're trying to make it a little more user friendly. There's also going to be some more news, a contest, and a few hidden bonuses in the site. (HINT: Listen to the whole CD to find the way in . . .)
Speaking of the CD, it was just sent off to the press yesterday. In about two weeks, the first batch of "Sex Crimes" we'll hit the streets! About half of those are already pre-ordered!
02/22/03: We're back.
12/22/03: Merry Christmas! It defiantly is over here. We're getting a hundreds of hits a week on the site, and the movement is growing. People either love us or hate us, but at least they're talking about us. And there's already been sightings of bootleg Dead Rabbit CDs popping up in the Sacramento area, ripped from some of CD-Rs we've been passing out.
Do I have a problem with bootlegs? Fuck no! I want people to hear it, debate it, and know what it's about. If you buy a copy when it comes out in Jan, burn a 100 copies and pass them out to your friends, honestly I won't care. That's a hundred people who may not have been exposed to my music if you hadn't done that. When we tour out there, maybe 10-20 of your friends will come, and to me that means more to me than the $3 I make on the CD.
We're taking this week off from the website, so most of your e-mails won't be answered until the 28th of Dec. Starting on the 28th, the project goes into full gear, as the first batch of CDs will be coming back from the factory in mid-Jan.
Have a great Christmas everybody, and thanks for supporting "Sex Crimes" so much!
12/13/03: Hey everyone, we're back! Sorry about the site being down!
I'm still scanning in the "Polly Klass" storyboards, so hopefully I can get those up before Jan. 1. I'd really like to get some feedback on what you think of the video's concept.
Speaking of feedback, here's an e-mail I got from a listener.
"I listened to the mp3's . . .they are interesting to say the least!!! The beats are great . . .and the lyrics are very descriptive . . .I think that is great!!! I love music and look into it maybe more than I should . . .if that makes any sense! I like to be able to listen to the music and really get what is being said and get a visual on it and I think you have captured that!"
This really is the highest compliment any artist can receive. I mean, I get a lot of shit from the rap community, about how my stuff isn't good, or my style is lame, or whatever. And that kinda sucks for me, cause I'm a huge rap fan. I grew up on Ice Cube and 2Pac, and when I was writing "Sex Crimes," I was basically writing it for myself as a teenager (a young rap fan.) But it turns out that a lot of people that are really into rap don't like the CD.
But now, I don't give a fuck what they think. I mean, some rap fans don't like my shit, and that's their right. But talking to other people, like casual rap fans or people who don't like rap at all, they really like the CD. To me, that is a greater gauge of success; that this CD can make someone who usually listens to nu metal or alt rock sit up and take notice.
The person who wrote that e-mail (white female in her mid-20s) definitely wasn't the target audience I had in mind when I wrote "Sex Crimes." But that fact that she could listen to it and be so excited by it, I think shows that the CD has a level of quality to it that transcends the genre.
And on a final note, in the course of doing market research for this CD, I realized something important: People who call themselves "rap fans" tend to be much more closed minded than people who label themselves "rock fans." I think a big part of that is that "rock" is a huge genre, covering everything from John Mayer to the Rolling Stones to Rage Against the Machine. But rap fans have a lower tolerance for experimentation.
Of course, that is a generalization, as I've met a few rap fans who enjoy the CD, but overall the rap community in Sacramento hasn't really taken to the CD. That's one reason why we are choosing to shoot videos: The local rap venues won't let us perform. The plan is to get a great local response for the videos, and then use that momentum to get booked at local rock clubs.
So keep the feedback coming! It is always great to hear from all of you. I get dozens of e-mails a day, so it might take me a few days to respond, but I do personally respond to every e-mail sent.
11/30/03: We're back after a long Thanksgiving weekend, and this week we'll be rolling out some new stuff at DeadRabbit.com.
First off, we now have a small selection of Dead Rabbit Merchandise Order now to get your shirt before Christmas! We are also working on the storyboards for the "Polly Klass" music video, and will have those up by the end of the week.
Also, we have our first review, from 916 Magazine. It was written by a member of their street team.
"Oh My God! I'm actually hesitant to even review this CD. This guy makes me want to lock my mother and sisters away in a safe place. Dead Rabbit has officially been added to the list of guys I would pull my pistol on in a dark alley. Go to the website, order the CD, and hear for yourself. Not for children. Extremely, explicit lyrics"
People have asked me if this is a good review. I say hell yeah! The CD had such an impact on this reviewer that the music took a back seat to the emotions it stirred in him. Sometimes, you can watch a horror movie, and it's not most technically proficient movie, but it hits you on a psychological level. I take great pride that "Sex Crimes" can have that impact on people.
Check out 916 Magazine, Sacramento's only source for Hip-Hop, at several music stores stores or hit them up at their website.
11/23/03: Now on the MP3 page, I have instructions on how to listen or download the songs. Some people have a had trouble getting it to work, and I'm still trying to figure it out. If one of the two options listed doesn't work, please e-mail me at DeadRabbitRecords@hotmail.com so I can troubleshoot the problem. Also, now the "Polly Klass" sample has been extended to feature Drusilla.
11/11/03: Just a quick note: Dead Rabbit will not be appearing on Jeopardy. I took the quick test to qualify for the 100 question multiple choice. Out of ten short answer questions, I got five right, and three of those answers were misspelled.
11/07/03: The MP3s have all been cut down to just sample. Casa Rebel is still the full song, but the rest are between 1 and 2 minutes long. Also, the album should be headed off to the printer this week. We are still working on the artwork, as some problems have popped up
11/04/03: I just updated the links page, because we were having some trouble with the lay-out. Also, if you have any pages you think would be good links, just email me at DeadRabbitRecords@hotmail.com Also, we're working on setting up a place for you to upload your own pics. We're going to have one for GhettoBootyCat pics, and one for Dead Girl pics, and I'll post more info up when I have it.
10/26/03: Just a quick heads up: it looks like (916) Magazine is going to be doing a review of "Sex Crimes" for it's Novemeber issue, so everyone be sure to pick up a copy. (916) Magazine is the ONLY hip-hop magazine for Sac, and one of the few magazines I read cover to cover. I think the only other mag I do that with is Fortean Times.
On another note, I put up a link for this site called Objective: 4 Kids, and I have to say "I'm Sorry." I mean, I doubt anyone goes really pays attention to what I do on this site, but I put up this link for a fake Christian website, thinking it was real. But no, it's a bunch of fucking pussies, that talk shit about Christians and Jews by pretending to be Christians and Jews.
Why does this piss me off? Well, for one, it took me a week to figure out it was a parody. I figured it was some loony Christians, because, let's face it, there are weird people in every religion. But then I realized it was a parody. I guess the site designers were going along the lines of: "Let's show them how dumb thier belifes are by taking them to the extreme."
The problem is that nobody knows it's a parody. "Mad Magazine" doesn't pretend to be "Time" or "Newsweek," but it still makes fun of daily events. Imagine reading an issue of "Time," and every story full of racism and hate, and then at the last page it says: "Ha ha, got you. This was all a joke. But it just goes to show you . . ." You wouldn't stand for it.
It's one thing to be clever, it's totally another to be deceitful.
And the people who post on the message board, they don't get it's a joke. Here's some of thier responses to the site (I left all of the authors' spelling and punctuation errors in):
"I'd like to congradulate you on the success of your website...now you can truely show the world what ignorant and stupid assholes you truely are. Hmm Jesus sounds accepting BUT YOU SURE AS @#%$! DONT! Keep up the good work guys, for revealing what Christianity truely is." - childofstrings
"This site is truly one of the most offensive things I have had the misfortune to view in my life. The sheer amount of anti-atheist, anti-polytheist propaganda on your page makes me hate organized religion oh so much more than I already do." - jebidiahjac
"This site is by far the most racist, stereotypical, puritan site i have ever had the missfortune of laying eyes on! this site couldnt be any worse for influential children to lay witness to! thank humanity that this site exists as proof that there is no such thing as gods and that all christianity is an excuse to be prejudice!" - daredevil986
This site is basically set up so it can trick people into hating Christians more, by being so over the top. It also bugs me that there is no way to contact the web masters. The forum is simply full of pissed of people (a very small amount of people get that it's a joke, but it's usually buffered with a "I think this might be a joke, but . . ." statement. Even they don't know how to take it.)
Bottom line is: people won't like Dead Rabbit, let them e-mail me. Shit, even my phone number is listed on the site. And I don't think anyone has to guess where I stand on the issues. But for a website to trick people into hate, then hide behind fake photos and dummy e-mail addresses to discourage debate, is simply cowardly.
10/23/03: Alright, that's it! The album is done, it's headed off to the press this week, where we'll be getting all of the copies we're going to be using for reviews, bookings, and press kits. We still won't be selling them just yet.
Also, I want to make a promise that I will be updating this site more often. Now that the album is done, I have more free time on my hands. We'll be doing a new Dead Girl photo shoot, finishing the FAQ page, making sure all the links work, and maybe even a bit of redesigning. Remember, if you have any comments, just e-mail me at DeadRabbitRecords@hotmail.com
9/22/03: The MP3s are only going to be up for a little longer. Once it gets mastered, only the first 45 seconds of each song will be in MP3 form.
Also, on a sadder note, "Hamster Love" is being removed from the album. The album will be mastered Oct. 16th and the first shipment of CDs should be in early November.
I also want to thank every one with their feedback so far!
8/30/03: With just one day left in the studio, the album is almost ready. All the songs have been recorded, and we are just putting the finishing touches on "Polly Klass." You can hear what we have so far here.
